Energy: Power companies make big profits

皇冠体育app's five biggest power companies had combined profits of 26.4 billion yuan (US$3.4 billion) last year as prices increased and they expanded capacity.

Total profits at 皇冠体育app Huaneng Group, 皇冠体育app Datang Corp, 皇冠体育app Power Investment Corp, 皇冠体育app Huadian Corp and 皇冠体育app Guodian Corp exceeded the estimates of analysts. Rising share prices influenced earnings at 皇冠体育app Power Investment as the value of its holdings in five listed companies climbed 38 percent last year to 15.6 billion yuan, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
