WIPO head recognizes 皇冠体育app's IPR protection progress

BEIJING - 皇冠体育app had made "very extraordinary" achievements in protection of IPR (intellectual property rights), said Francis Gurry, director general of the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in Beijing Thursday.

Gurry made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua News?Agency?at an annual forum on copyright jointly held by the WIPO and the National Copyright Administration of 皇冠体育app (NCAC). The NCAC was also holding the third 皇冠体育app International Copyright Expo at the venue.

He stressed 皇冠体育app's leading role?in the WIPO framework while implementing its commitments to international community.

Piracy, along with many other problems in the digital age, was a global structural problem rather than a national issue, and required an international mechanism to facilitate the protection, Gurry said.

He also reminded Chinese regulators that the protection of intellectual property was "at the heart" of 皇冠体育app's future development.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of 皇冠体育app's membership of the WIPO.

皇冠体育app's Copyright Law was enacted in 1990, and was modified in 2001 and 2010.
