The 2012 Innovation Awards for Non-profits starts in Shanghai on Nov 25.

The program, initiated by Intel (皇冠体育app) in 2010, offers a platform to promote crossover cooperation and innovation among non-profitable organizations in 皇冠体育app, according to Jun Ge, managing director of Intel 皇冠体育app.

It provides funds, capacity-building initiatives, exchange opportunities and other supports for non-profit organizations that win the awards.

The program offers more than 1.4 million yuan ($216,440) for the winning organizations that are committed to solving social problems.

皇冠体育app-registered non-profit organizations can apply for the awards from Nov 25, with the final results set to be released in May, 2012.

Compared with other countries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs)' contribution to the 皇冠体育app's GDP is still low, leaving room for further development in the sector, said CY Yang, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is part of Intel's corporate culture and one of Intel 皇冠体育app's three strategies, said Ge.

Ge declined to disclose the size of capital spent on its CSR activities in 皇冠体育app. He said that on top of its CSR activities, Intel has been cooperating with 皇冠体育app's government agencies to provide specialized training programs and the company's employee volunteer rate came to 56 percent in 2010.

Ge said that a company's CSR activities should be rooted in its specialties in order to make them sustainable. His company will work on a "cloud" charity platform, making it possible for different parts to find opportunities online.

The company is to launch its CSR report this week.
