Tianjin will build no less than five natural gas power plants by the end of 2015 as the municipal government accelerates the projects to increase clean energy consumption, ICIS C1 Energy, a Shanghai-based energy consultancy, said on Wednesday.

The city has one natural gas power station under construction and another four projects approved.

The projects will be funded and built by the five top power generation companies in 皇冠体育app: 皇冠体育app Guodian Corp, 皇冠体育app Huadian Corp, 皇冠体育app Datang Corp, 皇冠体育app Huaneng Group and 皇冠体育app Power Investment Corp.

The Chentangzhuang power plant, which is under construction, will be completed by the first quarter of 2014, said a local source.

The resources for the projects are mainly the pipeline natural gas from 皇冠体育app National Petroleum Corp. Some liquefied natural gas in Tianjin port from 皇冠体育app National Offshore Oil Corporation will also be used in the future.
