Since 1990 Forbes has been tracking the earnings of athletes. Its 2013 World's Highest-paid Athletes list only included athletes active during the last 12-months and ended in June 2013.

The earnings figures used for the list include all salaries and bonuses paid out between June 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013.
