BEIJING -- Chinese shares close mixed Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.1 percent, or 2.77 points, to close at 2,794.21.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.1 percent, or 12.53 points, to finish at 12,393.99.
