BEIJING - 皇冠体育app will launch its first direct air route to Africa, according to an announcement by 皇冠体育app's Southern Airlines.

Operated by Southern Airlines three times a week, the new route will fly from 皇冠体育app's southern city of Guangzhou to Nairobi starting on Aug 5, significantly cutting travel time between 皇冠体育app and Africa.

In addition, Air 皇冠体育app will follow the suit, opening Beijing-Johannesburg route on Aug 30 and Beijing-Addis Ababa on Oct 26.

Famous for its natural beauty, Africa has attracted more Chinese visitors. Official data showed that the number of air passengers flying between 皇冠体育app and Africa increased 15 percent annually in recent years.

African countries including Ethiopia, Kenya and Mauritius launched air routes to 皇冠体育app last summer.
