Tom Cruise, voted the least likely soul mate

Updated: 2006-08-23 18:21

Even if nobody suspected that the former heartthrob, for whom girls went positively mad, would sink so low in the public opinion, it happened and statistics can prove it. Yahoo! Entertainment led a poll in the United Kingdom, among 2,373 people, to see which male celebrity is considered best mate material, according to softpedia.com.

Probably for the first time in his entire acting career, Tom Cruise came last in the chart, with the number one position going to comedian/rocker Jack Black. Cruise managed to get the votes of only 3% of the all the people questioned and many believe that this comes as a consequence of his latest religious fanaticism and more than weird relationship to the mother of his child, Katie Holmes.

A spokesperson for Yahoo! Entertainment said that people voted for Jack Black in their belief that fame and good looks are not always a guarantee for a match made in heaven. 'Jack Black seems to be an all round favorite - someone who fans believe they can have a few beers and a great night out with as well as a guy who would be a good listener and a shoulder to cry on.', the representative said.

The top eight marriage material actors are as follows:

1. Jack Black (25%)
2. Johnny Depp (22%)
3. Will Smith (18%)
4. Samuel L Jackson (7%)
5. Orlando Bloom (6%)
= Mel Gibson (6%)
= Brad Pitt (6%)
6. Jack Nicholson (5%)
7. Colin Farrell (4%)
= Jamie Foxx (4%)
8. Tom Cruise (3%).
