TAIYUAN -- Twelve people are dead after five houses collapsed as a tunnel in a coal mine complex was being extended in North 皇冠体育app's Shanxi Province on Monday.

Workers were renovating and extending the 85-meter tunnel under the residential area of Yinying Coal Mine in Yangquan City when the buildings on the surface collapsed.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
