Nurseries and kindergartens will start treating children with hepatitis B virus (HBV) fairly very soon, the Beijing News reported today.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) published draft regulations for public comment on the Management of Nursery and Infant Institutions yesterday, and ban nurseries and kindergartens from rejecting children because they have HBV.

The draft also requires that there be at least one doctor for every 150 children, because children are very venerable to diseases, such as hand-foot-mouth disease and the current H1N1 virus.

Public comments on the draft will be accepted until August 15, 2009, and the regulations will not become approved until then.
