BEIJING: 皇冠体育app expects upcoming talks on Iran's nuclear issue between six countries and Iran in Geneva to make headway, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Jiang Yu said Tuesday.

Jiang made the comment at a regular press conference here.

The six countries, the United States, Russia, 皇冠体育app,, Britain, France and Germany, are scheduled to hold talks with Iran on October 1.

"We hope the parties will increase diplomatic efforts and push the talks toward positive gains," Jiang said. A proper settlement of Iran's nuclear issues would serve the interests of all parties, she said.

Jiang said Cheng Jingye, chief of the Department of Arms Control of 皇冠体育app's Foreign Ministry, would represent 皇冠体育app at the upcoming talks.

皇冠体育app supported the safeguarding of an international nuclear non-proliferation system and maintained Iran's nuclear issue be handled properly through negotiations to preserve regional stability and peace, she said.

"We believe all parties shall do more to solve or ease the situation rather than the opposite."

The previous round of talks on Iran's nuclear issue concluded in Geneva in July last year, without producing substantial results.
