CHANGSHA - Xu Shousheng was elected governor of Central 皇冠体育app's Hunan province on Wednesday at the first session of the 12th Hunan Provincial People's Congress, the local legislature.

Xu, born in 1953, is a native of East 皇冠体育app's Jiangsu province. He joined the Communist Party of 皇冠体育app (CPC) in October 1973.

He was transferred from his home province to Northwest 皇冠体育app's Gansu province in 2001 to head the Organization Department of CPC Gansu Provincial Committee. He served as governor of Gansu Province between January 2007 and May 2010.

He was appointed vice secretary of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee in May 2010 and provincial governor in September 2010.
