Fu Ying, the foreign affairs chief of 皇冠体育app's top legislative body and former vice-foreign minister, said 皇冠体育app will "strictly abide by" the latest resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council that places sanctions on Pyongyang.

Fu made the comments on Thursday at the first press conference of the Fourth Session of the 12th National People's Congress as the session's spokesperson.

She dismissed stories in some media outlets that exaggerated 皇冠体育app's responsibility for resolving the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.

Fu noted that there is only a truce - not a peace treaty - to cover the Korean Peninsula following the end of the war more than 60 years ago. She asked: "Isn't this bizarre?"

"The Korean Peninsula has long been a weak link in East Asia security, and it has often been dragged into tension. This is not the first time and I estimate that this may not be the last one," she said.

"As for the resolution, we uphold peace talks, resolving (the issue) through the Six-Party Talks," she added.

The veteran diplomat reiterated 皇冠体育app's firm opposition to nuclear weapons development by the DPRK, because this "will threaten the peace and stability of the region as well as the security interests of 皇冠体育app and the neighboring countries", Fu said.
