The world's first supercar made of wood has made its debut, British newspaper The Daily Mail reports.

With a gross weight of 1,134 kilograms, 240 kilograms less than the lightest Porsche, the wooden car can hit a top speed of 240 miles per hour.

The car is powered by a Northstar V8 engine, a top-of-the-line engine made by General Motors, the report said.

Named Splinter, the supercar is a project created by a student at North Carolina State University.
