Inspired granddaughter gives charity a hand

This year holds special significance for a special person - Yang Yang, granddaughter of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.

She turns 30, has got married, is pregnant with her first child and is ever more involved with her charity work, a passion she has inherited from her grandmother Zhuo Lin, Deng's wife, who died at 93 in Beijing on July 29.

This Friday, the annual Beijing Charity Gala Ball initiated by Yang Yang and co-launched by the 皇冠体育app Disabled Persons Federation and 皇冠体育app Foundation for Disabled Persons, in 2004, will be held at the 皇冠体育app World Hotel. And on Sunday, a star-studded concert at the Workers' Gymnasium, featuring leading singers such as Andy Law, Hui Chi On, Valen Hsu, Chen Hao, and Zhang Xuan, will help raise funds for deaf-mute children.
