BEIJING - Any action taken by the United Nations should not punish the Iranian people nor impact their normal lives, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu on Thursday.

Jiang made the remarks in regards to the upcoming United Nations Security Council's vote on new sanctions against Iran.

"The UN action should help resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation," Jiang said.
