"In the past few years, the Chinese art market has been focusing more on the market value of the artworks, rather than the value of the artworks themselves. Now the market has cooled down a little bit, and we think it's time to turn to genuinely good artworks," said Wang.

This year's galleries were chosen primarily based on the plan-to-exhibit artworks. About 60 percent of the art galleries are from overseas, and 40 percent are domestic. The artworks on exhibition include paintings, installation art, photos and sculptures.

The exhibition will open to public from Oct 9 to Oct 11. The Oct 8 event was for artists and VIPs only.
