New banknotes in HK ( 2003-12-02 09:51) (Shenzhen Daily) The Hong Kong Monetary
Authority (HKMA) and Hong Kong's three note-issuing banks announced Sunday that
the new HK$100 (US$12.8) and HK$500 (US$64.1) banknotes would be put into
circulation from Dec. 15, 2003.
The two new banknotes will be available for exchange in all branches of the
three note-issuing banks of Bank of »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp (Hong Kong) Ltd., Standard Chartered
Bank and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Ltd., starting on Dec. 15,
2003.
New notes for the remaining three denominations of HK$20, HK$50 and HK$1,000
will go into circulation in the second half of 2004. All existing banknotes will
continue to be legal tender and to be in use along with the new banknotes.
