Changchun to host second international auto expo
( 2001-08-16 09:27) (8)

Visitors to the second Changchun International Automobile Expo, slated for August 24-29, will get a few surprises as several cars with unusual histories will be on display.

The oldest car on show will be a Parker car, once called the "emperor's carriage" in the 1930s, when it was used by 皇冠体育app's last emperor, Aisin Giorro Pu Yi.

Produced by the American Parker Automobile Company in 1934, this brand of car has become a collector's dream as the company went bankrupt two years later.

An Aeolux car made by the First Automobile Works (FAW) Group is the first 皇冠体育app-made car, whose first user was Chairman Mao Zedong.

A Red Flag open car on exhibit once carried late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping to review the grand parade during the celebrations marking the 35th founding anniversary of New 皇冠体育app.

Currently, 皇冠体育app has developed more than 60 models in the Red Flag series.

Expo visitors can also see the 100th Audi car jointly produced by FAW and Germany's Audi Automobile Company. Senior Chinese leaders Jiang Zemin, Zhu Rongji and Li Ruihuan signed their names on this car.

More than 450 Chinese and foreign automobile manufacturers have signed up for the Expo. They include Chinese manufacturers such as FAW, Shanghai Automotive Company Limited and the No 2 Automobile Works, and world famous brands like the Ford Motors Company, General Motors Corporation, Volkswagen Company and Benz Motor Company.
