Dalian designated as showcase of software industry

Dalian, a coastal city in northeast 皇冠体育app's Liaoning Province has been designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a showcase for the software industry, the first of its kind ever in 皇冠体育app.
Dalian, backed by its advantages in city construction, infrastructure and environmental protection, has become the most developed city in the software industry in north 皇冠体育app.
The city now has five software industrial bases, either completed or near completion, and all of its 14 universities or colleges have set up computer departments.
With the designation, Dalian will place special emphasis on the software industry in its future development over the next five to 10 years. During that time a sound development climate, featuring both favorable policies and the necessary infrastructure, is set to be built up.
By 2005, the city is expected to realize a total production value of US$1.2 billion and an export volume of US$500 million in the software industry alone.
