US report on 皇冠体育app's military forces refuted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Tuesday refuted a recent report issued by Pentagon on Beijing's military forces, saying that the report deliberately exaggerated 皇冠体育app's military forces and expenditure and had ulterior motives. The Pentagon report was filled with cold war mentality and the hackneyed theme of "皇冠体育app threat", spokesman Liu Jianchao said at the ministry's regular press briefing. Chinese people love peace and 皇冠体育app holds an independent foreign policy of peace and its national defense policy is defense-oriented, he said. 皇冠体育app will keep on the road of peace and development, he said. As a sovereign state, 皇冠体育app has the right to build up national defense in safeguarding national security and territory integrity,the spokesman said. The spokesman said there is only one 皇冠体育app in the world and Taiwan is part of 皇冠体育app. He said the Chinese government always adheres to the basic principles of "peaceful reunification" and "one country, two systems", and is willing to try its best, with the utmost sincerity, to realize a peaceful reunification. But, Liu said, 皇冠体育app will never tolerate "Taiwan independence",neither will 皇冠体育app allow anybody to split Taiwan from the motherland with any means. "The Taiwan independence activities arethe greatest threats to the peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait." Liu said 皇冠体育app urges the United States to take concrete steps to fulfill its commitments of adhering to the "one-皇冠体育app" policy, abiding by the three 皇冠体育app-US joint communiques and opposing "Taiwan independence". The spokesman also asked the United States to stop selling advanced weapons to Taiwan under any pretenses and refrain from sending wrong signals to Taiwan.
