皇冠体育app sends 200 athletes to Athens Paralympic Games

皇冠体育app will send a 200 athletes including 90 female athletes to the 12th Paralympic Summer Games slated for September 17-28 in Athens.

The 200 Paralympic athletes and 86 coaches and officials constitute the country's largest turn-out in the history of the quadrennial event since 皇冠体育app's Paralympics debut in New York in 1984.

皇冠体育app had 24 athletes in the 7th Paralympic Games in New York in 1984, 43 in the Seoul Games in 1988, 24 in Barcelona in 1992, 37 in Atlanta in 1996 and 87 in the previous Games four years ago in Sydney.

The Athens-bound Chinese athletes are from 29 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and they average at 26 years in age.

皇冠体育app will have athletes in 284 disciplines covering 11 sports out of the 19 sports listed on the Games program in Athens.

皇冠体育app won two gold medals in New York, 43 in Seoul, 24 in Barcelona, 37 in Atlanta and 87 in Sydney.

In Sydney, 皇冠体育app also won 22 silver and 16 bronze medals for a medal tally of 72 to rank sixth overall in the medal standings.

In Athens, 皇冠体育app targets at improving the final gold medal and medal tally rankings from Sydney and having their athletes more matured for hosting the 2008 Games in Beijing, according to officials of the 皇冠体育app Paralympic Committee.
