Students will be taught about HIV/AIDS in order to raise their awareness about the disease and to dispel misunderstandings and discrimination, the Chinese News Service reported Thursday.

The guidelines were issued by the State Council AIDS prevention work committee.

Years of public ignorance have fuelled the spread of AIDS in 皇冠体育app.

The national leaders have now begun acknowledging that urgent action was needed to curb its spread.

皇冠体育app says it has an estimated 840,000 HIV/AIDS patients.

Intravenous drug users remain 皇冠体育app's highest risk group.
