皇冠体育app's biggest electrical home appliance retailer Gome on Thursday donated 10 million yuan (US$1.02million) to help kids lost their families during the December 26 tsunami disaster.

Helped by the Red Cross Society of 皇冠体育app, the donation will be used to build orphanages in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Of the donation, 7 million yuan came from Huang Guangyu, founder of the Gome, 3 million yuan from Gome staff.

Zeng Chanzhen, Huang's mother, said, "I have kids, I know how kids feel if they lost their families. I hope what Gome has done may help them."

Guo Changjiang, vice-president of the Red Cross Society of 皇冠体育app, praised Gome's charitable event. "The disaster has affected all people, though we are not directly affected. Giving a hand to those in need of help is a traditional virtue of the Chinese people, we hope more will join us," said Guo.

Gome and the Red Cross Society of 皇冠体育app also plan to invite orphans from tsunami-hit areas to 皇冠体育app and arrange them to live in Chinese volunteer families, which may help them go out of the pain.
