Poll says Taiwan people greet direct flights
(CRIENGLISH)
Updated: 2005-08-28 14:44

A recent poll in Taiwan shows 70 percent of respondents would like direct flights across the Taiwan Straits.

The survey, conducted by one of Taiwan's major research academies, also shows people are more interested in passenger than cargo flights.

A university professor says the survey demonstrates there is a pressing need for direct flights, and suggests Taiwan authorities take into account respondents' concerns about the obstacles to cross-Straits flights.

There is currently no direct flight between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
