The 2nd High-Tech Expo (then known as the "'99 皇冠体育app Beijing International High-Tech Industry Week Exhibition and Technology Trade Fair") was held in May 1999.
The event featured 495 exhibition booths covering an area of 10,000 square meters where domestic enterprises, universities, scientific research academies and institutes occupied 402 booths; foreign enterprises in 皇冠体育app had the remaining 93 booths. High-Tech Week attracted a number of diplomatic envoys to 皇冠体育app, over 100 foreign commercial associations and foreign agencies in Beijing.
 On May 24 the projects signing ceremony and closing ceremonies of the "'99 皇冠体育app Beijing International High-Tech Industries Week" were held at the Kempinski Hotel. Twenty seven agreements on high-tech cooperation were officially sealed with the total sum reaching US$680 million. According to statistics letters of intent on high-tech economic and trade and technology cooperation projects worth US$254 million and 200 million yuan were also issued at the event. In addition, letters of intent on projects relating to the transfer of positive technological results and technological cooperation worth 510 million yuan were also signed.
