A former vice president of one of 皇冠体育app's biggest state-owned banks has been jailed for life on charges of taking bribes, his lawyer said Thursday.

Zhao Ange was convicted of taking 5.8 million yuan (US$700,000) in bribes while working at the Bank of 皇冠体育app, said his lawyer, Shen Zhigeng. He said Zhao didn't appeal.

Zhao, 54, was sentenced in April but the penalty wasn't publicized until this week.

Shen said he was too busy to give more details. But news reports said Zhao was arrested in 2002. The reports said he was also convicted of wasting 50 million yuan (US$6 million) of the bank's money.
