Wen ends Portugal visit, leaving for Malaysia

LISBON, December 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Lisbon on Saturday afternoon for the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur after ending a two-day official visit to Portugal.

During his stay in Lisbon, Wen met with Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio and parliament President Jaime Gama, and held talks with Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates.

During the visit, 皇冠体育app and Portugal decided to establish the all-around strategic partnership and signed 10 pacts covering a wide range of fields.

Portugal is the fourth leg of Wen's five-nation Euro-Asia tour, which has taken him to France, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and will take him to Malaysia, where he will attend the 9th 皇冠体育app-ASEAN and ASEAN Plus 皇冠体育app, Japan and Republic of Korea Summit and the first East Asia Summit.

Portugal welcomed as new strategic partner

LISBON: 皇冠体育app and Portugal elevated their ties to strategic partnership level on Friday, in order to show their commitment to stronger co-operation and political trust.

The announcement was made in a joint declaration signed by Premier Wen Jiabao and his Portuguese counterpart Jose Socrates on the first day of Wen's visit to the European country.
