The Uygurs believe in the Islam. The traditional festivals include the Rouzi Festival, Corban Festival and Initial Snow Festival. The Uygurs pay great attention to the traditional festivals, especially the Corban Festival, which is the largest one. On the occasion, every family will slay sheep, cook mutton and make various cakes.

The slain livestock is not allowed to be sold. Apart from the sheep skin and intestines, which are offered to the mosque or professional priests, the rest will be preserved for self consumption or feast the guests.

During the Rouzi Festival, the adult followers will keep the fast for one month. During the fast, they can only eat before the sunrise and after the sunset. It is strictly prohibited to take food during the daytime.
