Frida Giannini, Creative Director of Gucci, and Patrizio di Marco, Giannini's husband and also the brand's CEO, announced that they would leave the Italian luxury house on Dec 15.

The slim and blonde designer, who started her career designing accessories, was hired away from Fendi in 2002 by Tom Ford, the then-creative designer at Gucci.

She helped Gucci's handbag sales skyrocket and was promoted to the designer for women's ready-to-wear and acessories in 2005. A year later, she took control of the entire label.

Giannini's designs were more urban and tailored to the tastes of modern working women, which differed greatly from Ford's ceaseless pursuit of sexiness in women's apparel.

While working with the brand, best known by its double G monograms, Giannini created a haute couture line, Gucci Première, whose products are not presented on runways but are solely made for female celebrities to wear on the red carpet.

Let's look back at some of the most stunning dresses that Frida Giannini designed for Gucci Première.
