"Speaking for myself, there are some differences between Chinese and European customers in terms of body shapes and the styles they like. The European market has a high standard when it comes to craftsmanship. So the challenge for us is to makes garments that suit European styles and body shapes, and we're working hard on that," says Sun.

Williams says that while the Western media is showing more interest in Chinese designers, the number of stores that stock their clothes lags behind.

"Chinese design is still relatively niche in London," she told New York Times earlier.

Yet, looking forward, the fashion industry is optimistic about the rise of Chinese designers.

"We've noticed this in fashion schools in the US and in England, and we've seen how much the makeup of the students in the classes have changed there in the last five to 10 years. So many of the students are Chinese, and obviously they represent the future of Chinese fashion," Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour remarked during a visit to Beijing in 2015.

"I'm sure that within the next generation we'll see the emergence of Chinese designers on a global scale," she added.
