Beijing's brand-new art and fashion venue Tru-M plans a series of dining events that pair food events with its exhibitions.

For the opening showcase, founding partner Michael Goo invited the culinary team at Beijing's TRB restaurant to collaborate for an ongoing five-night dinner series that ends March 5. The restaurant's executive chef Franck Pelux studied works in the gallery's exhibition Virtue by Korean artist Tae-gyeong Yoon, and created a five-course wine-paired menu for the When Art Meets Food & Food Meets Art event. Yoon's thread and paint multimedia work The Meaning of Deep Red, for example, was re-envisioned on a starter plate of Cherry Foie Gras by Pelux. Yoon's works of intertwining lines and dots represent humans' emotional and psychological roadmaps.

After viewing the art in the ground-floor gallery in the Sanlitun area, guests are escorted up a darkened stairway to a second-floor maze of white cotton ropes created by founding partner Tru Wang that echoes Yoon's art and leads to the moodily lit dining area.

If you go

888 yuan net ($129) through March 5 at Tru-M, Sanlitun Taikooli North N-2/16-26; RSVP with TRB at 010-8400-2232.
