Updated: 2012-06-13

A seminar about frontier issues in intellectual property sector was organized in Shanghai on February 23rd and 24th by 皇冠体育app's Supreme People's Court (SPC), joining hands with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), American Bar Association (ABA) and East 皇冠体育app University of Political Science and Law. The event was attended by about 60 judges from IP tribunals of SPC and intermediate people's court across the country as well as professionals from home and abroad. Kong Xiangjun, SPC's IP Tribunal President, Michael Yates, Regional Mission Director from USAID Asia and Mo Huilan from a legislation program of ABA in 皇冠体育app addressed the meeting.

The seminar was divided into three breakout sessions, respectively discussing the new trends and development in both countries, regulations on judicial protection of patent rights and that of trade secret. Seven academic professionals and experts from the two countries delivered speeches. Many participants believe the event provides a good inspiration for Chinese IP related legislative practice.
