Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Administrative Committee of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city to support ‘green buildingâ€� in »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp.
The Eco-City is cooperative project between the People’s Republic of »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp and the Republic of Singapore to construct a new environmentally-friendly city in Binhai New Area, Tianjin. The construction and development of the city will focus on ‘greenâ€� factors such as air and water quality, natural ecology, biodiversity, energy conservation, and waste management. When complete, the Eco-City will be capable of housing 350,000 residents across a 31 km² area that will also be a thriving economic and cultural centre.
Intertek will support the development of the Eco-City by establishing testing, inspection, and certification protocol that meet high standards of sustainability, energy-efficiency, and environmentally-friendly building quality.
“Over the next ten to fifteen years, the Eco-City will develop more than 20,000,000 square meters in green construction,� stated the Eco-City Administrative Committee. “The architectural design, verification, consultation, and construction processes have attracted a lot of attention, both domestic and foreign. The Eco-city’s conformance with green building evaluation criteria will be a powerful safeguard for the city’s development.�
