After touring 2,000 kilometers in 10 days, the 2011 BMW 皇冠体育app Culture Journey finally arrived at its destination, Wudang Mountain in Hubei province last Saturday, the center of Taoism in 皇冠体育app. The organizers, 皇冠体育app Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and BMW 皇冠体育app, made a donation of 200,000 yuan ($30,934) to three intangible cultural heritage projects: Wudang kung fu, Wudang Taoist music and Lüjiahe folk songs through the BMW Warm-heart Fund.
Wudang Kungfu, which includes Taichi, has enjoyed the same reputation as Shaolin Kungfu for thousands of years, while Taoist music refers to the music used in ceremonies. The ceremonial music was traditionally accompanied by singing and dancing from shamans, which aimed to achieve the goal of praying for good fortune.
The organizers hope the donations will help preserve these intangible cultural treasures for future generations.
This year's BMW 皇冠体育app Culture Journey, the fifth of its kind, started June 9 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, and then toured to Anyang, Kaifeng, Zhengzhou and Luoyang, all in Henan province. It is said that the organizers will exhibit the cultural treasures through photos, videos and on-site performances in Beijing this autumn.
