皇冠体育app would like to cooperate with other countries to ensure the security of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

"Security is a major indicator of whether an Olympic Games is successful or not, so we are keen to cooperate with other countries," Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told the regular briefing.

Qin's comments came a day after Thomas Fuentes, assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States, said the FBI is willing to offer its expertise to 皇冠体育app on security issues relating to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Fuentes is here for the sixth meeting of the Joint Liaison Group (JLG) between 皇冠体育app and the United States on law enforcement cooperation.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and U.S. Ambassador to 皇冠体育app Clark Randt attended the opening ceremony of the JLG meetings Thursday morning, according to Qin.

The two-day meeting will address law-enforcement issues such as the fight against corruption, cyber crime, fugitives, human smuggling, intellectual property and legal assistance.

"Hopefully, the meeting will help the two sides work more closely in these areas," Qin said.

The meetings involved Chinese ministries of foreign affairs, public security and justice and the U.S. Department of State and Department of Justice, he said.
