US-made WWII vessel to be sold as scraps in 皇冠体育app
A World War II vessel made by the US, supposedly for the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, now rests by the bank of the Yangtze River in Southwest 皇冠体育app's Chongqing municipality, March 23, 2010. Eight garbage collectors jointly bought the vessel for 900,000 yuan ($132,000) from a shipping company in Chongqing and brought it here four days ago. They plan to cut it into pieces and sell it as scrap iron. It has passed through the hands of several different owners in the past years. Local authorities have been urged to take over the vessel and preserve it as a piece of cultural heritage. [Photo/CFP]
