Drought-induced craters in Shandong

A man from the city government's environmental protection department measures one of the craters created by drought in Shandong province, on Aug 26, 2011. Shiliquan village used to be one of the main water providers for urban residents in Zaozhuang city, East 皇冠体育app's Shandong province. With severe drought hitting the area in June this year, the ground water level receded dramatically, creating 18 craters in the area, with the largest measuring 50 square meters and 20 meters deep.
