CRBC started the reconstruction project in February 2008 and is expected to finish by the end of 2013. According to CRBC, a total of 10,000 jobs have been created for Pakistani workers during the five-year construction period. The 1,224-kilometer highway connects Kashgar in Northwest 皇冠体育app's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region with Pakistan's northern region. 皇冠体育app helped Pakistan build the highway between 1968 and 1978, and a total of 613 kilometers were finished.
