In an ETC -- electronic toll collection -- lane at the Wuxi East Toll Station on the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, an approaching car’s data is automatically read and the barrier is raised on Dec 17. From approaching to passing through only takes two seconds. During that time, the system automatically completes several processes, such as reading the license plate, monitoring owner information and deducting a payment.
