Musk (white musk)
Extracted from the glands of the male musk deer, it has been a basic ingredient of practically all fragrances. It has been described as "repulsive-attractive, chemical-warm, sweaty-balmy, acrid-waxy, earthy-powdery, fatty-chocolate-like, pungent-leathery, resinous-spicy, fig-like, dry, nutty and woody".
Tea (mainly green tea)
Tea didn't appear in fragrances until the 1990s, when there was a trend of going back to nature and environmental issues became a major concern. Just as a cup of tea can help people get refreshed, the aroma of tea is also believed to have a similar effect.
Ginger
This yellow spice mainly used in Asia is used in fragrances, mainly as base notes. Its sharp, strong smell is often used for relieving digestive problems, nausea or motion sickness.
Sandalwood
An aromatic, evergreen wood mainly found in India, it has the effect of calming and harmonizing, and thus, often used during yoga sessions to reduce tension. It is also believed to awaken sexual energy.
Orange
The smell of orange, sweet, fresh and tangy, is usually associated with happiness and warmth. It is also least likely to cause irritation.
