Malaysia to continue suspending tourism roadshows

Xinhua | Updated: 2014-03-28 10:43

Malaysian Minister of Tourism and Culture Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz said on Thursday that the government will continue suspending the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 roadshow in 皇冠体育app.

He said at the sideline of an event held here that the losing of Chinese visitors coming to Malaysia is "something to be expected."

The minister had mentioned before in the Parliament that the government has suspended all the road shows to promote the Visit Malaysia 2014, a campaign aiming to promote the country's tourism sector.

"For as long as there is no closure to the tragedy of MH370, the suspension will continue. So we have no plans for the moment, because as I've said, we need to respect family of the passengers of MH370," said the minister.

After the missing of Malaysian Airlines plane MH370, many Chinese visitors canceled their trips to Malaysia, and some Chinese travel agencies had suspended cooperation with Malaysian Airlines.

By conducting the tourism campaign, the Malaysian government eyes 28 million international visitors, with expected tourism receipts reaching 76 billion Malaysian Ringgit (US dollars 23.1 billion) this year.
