Ritz-Carlton goes dark for Earth Hour

The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Tianjin continued efforts to implement energy-saving by participating in WWF’s Earth Hour 2015 on March 28 between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

With a concerted effort to spread awareness about environmental and energy conservation, all non-essential power and lights throughout the hotel, including hotel exterior lighting, courtyard lighting, lobby lighting and spa lighting were turned off for one hour. And all restaurants lighting were adjusted to a minimum.

Staff members were be asked to switch off unnecessary equipment such as computers, printers and other electrical appliances. Letters were left for guests asking them to minimize the use of electrical appliances and lights. To raise awareness among guests about this environmental program, candles were arranged to show the Earth Hour logo in the lobby. At the appointed hour, staff members of The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin invited hotel guests to light the candles to mark Earth Hour.

In addition to participating in Earth Hour every year since 2013, The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin is also active in the Community Footprints program and is deeply involved in local environmental preservation. In the last two years, The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin organized several events to encourage people to protect the Haihe River which is the mother river of Tianjin.
