BEIJING: A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Thursday said 皇冠体育app was hoping to see peace and stability in Afghanistan after US President Barack Obama announced his administration would deploy an extra 30,000 troops there.

Spokesman Qin Gang told a regular press briefing, "皇冠体育app has noticed President Obama's speech, and we are willing to see peace, stability, development and progress in Afghanistan."

皇冠体育app hoped the efforts by the international community on Afghanistan would be conducive to achieving those goals, Qin said.

He also reaffirmed 皇冠体育app's position by saying each country's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity should be fully respected.

President Obama at the West Point military academy on Tuesday announced he would deepen the US involvement in Afghanistan by raising US troop numbers to almost 100,000.
