JAKARTA - Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said on Wednesday that Iraq was interested in buying weapons manufactured by Indonesia, as the country is building its armed forces.

Yusgiantoro made the statement after receiving a report from an Indonesian delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Syafrie Syamsuddin on a visit to Iraq now.

"Our deputy defense minister now is there (Iraq). They (Iraq) are interested in some of our weaponry, the products of our defense industry," he told a press conference at the defense ministry.

Yusgiantoro said that both countries would implement the plan to set up defense cooperation.

An Iraqi delegation will visit Indonesia in the near future for the purpose, ?he said.
