Nelson Mandela former president of South Africa lit the torch of hope with Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenneger at the launch of special Olympics of hope for the mentally handicapped children on July 13, 2001. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is known worldwide for his struggle to overthrow white racism in South Africa for 50 years (1944-1994) and winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
