BEIJING - Chinese equities closed lower Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.03 percent, or 0.68 points, to close at 2,610.68.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.45 percent, or 50.62 points, to end at 11,223.86.
